Outdoor calisthenics equipment for correctional facilities is fixed bodyweight training equipment, such as pull-up bars, parallel (dip) bars and multi-station Cali-Rigs, built from heavy-duty steel with tamperproof hardware and no exposed components. With no cables, belts or pulleys to replace, bars give incarcerated individuals effective strength training with minimal maintenance and low security risk.
Correctional facilities need fitness equipment that provides meaningful training with proper exercise biomechanics without creating unnecessary maintenance, security, or supervision concerns. Most outdoor fitness equipment is designed for general public use but lacks the security and functionality correctional fitness equipment requires. Many facilities will overcomplicate things. To keep it simple, sometimes calisthenics equipment such as pull-up bars and parallel bars is all you need.
Parallel bars and pull-up bars are some of the most versatile pieces of calisthenics equipment. These bars support exercises such as dips, push-ups, pull-ups, chin-ups, and much more. These simple bodyweight movements support full-body training, muscle health, and grip strength without any weights, cables, or moving components. In correctional environments, this simplicity is extremely valuable.
When comparing manufacturers, administrators should look for equipment built for demanding environments, with tamperproof hardware and minimal risk of misuse.
Properly designed correctional fitness equipment secures moving parts behind locked access hatches, but most commercial gym equipment exposes moving parts, bearings, handles, and cable-based resistance mechanisms. These features work in a public gym but can be dangerous in a correctional facility recreation area. Using this equipment in an outdoor yard is risky. Bodyweight equipment offers a different approach to fitness. Parallel bars and pull-up bars provide effective strength training without any mechanical components that can be misused.
At Outdoor-Fit, our correctional fitness equipment, such as the Cali-Singles line, emphasizes durability, security, and zero maintenance. For facilities that need more than single-user equipment, we offer 40 Cali-Rigs that support 2 to 17 users in a variety of bodyweight training setups. If you're looking for something different, we can custom-build a Cali-Rig to meet your needs.
Regardless of the facility's security level, correctional fitness equipment should be built for constant use and outdoor exposure. Facility leadership should look at options with heavy-duty steel construction, tamperproof hardware, no exposed components, and weatherproof finishes. A well-designed recreation area improves inmates' physical and mental health and creates a more welcoming environment for staff. Whether a facility needs a simple pull-up bar or a complete calisthenics fitness area, choosing fitness equipment designed specifically for corrections is always the best option.

Calisthenics equipment is exercise equipment consisting of strictly bodyweight movements such as pull-up bars, parallel bars, knee raises, sit-ups, and more
Correctional grade fitness equipment should have the same exercise biomechanics that you would see in commercial gym equipment, but should prioritize durability, security, be tamperproof, weatherproof, minimal maintenance, and built from heavy duty materials.
Every unit anchors to structurally sound concrete, generally at least 6" thick. Anchors are not supplied; a local anchoring specialist specifies them, and tamper-resistant anchor hardware is available. Multigyms and larger units need at least two installers, and our team provides a full tools list in advance so security staff can pre-clear every item under the facility's tool-control and escort protocols. At Outdoor-Fit, we don't typically install equipment, but we can connect your facility with trusted installation partners, and on-site support is available on request.
Cali-Singles are single-user units. Cali-Rigs range from 2-user to 17-user configurations, with standard layouts, and we can also custom-build a rig for larger yards or unusual footprints.
