Alexandria Detention Center: Prison Gym Equipment for Secure Facility Environments

The Alexandria Detention Center equipped its recreation area with Apollo Multigym, Helios Multigym and Versa Hi-LO Pulley System from Outdoor-Fit — tamperproof, weatherproof correctional fitness equipment built for secure facility environments.

The William G. Truesdale Adult Detention Center, operated by the Alexandria Sheriff's Office in Alexandria, Virginia, is a medium-security jail that opened in 1987 and houses a mix of local, state, and federal inmates. In a busy metro-area jail with constant turnover, durable, low-maintenance fitness equipment is an important part of the recreation program.

Also, several inmates have expressed to staff that their daily workout sessions have improved.

The Solution

Full-Body Training for a Busy Metro Jail

With steady daily demand across a mixed population, Alexandria needed versatile stations that hold up to constant use. Outdoor-Fit supplied three systems designed for high-volume, supervised use in secure environments: Apollo Multigym, Helios Multigym, Versa Hi-LO Pulley System.

All units are weather-resistant and engineered for long-term use in correctional recreation areas. Their heavy-duty construction, tamperproof components, and low-maintenance design help reduce ongoing servicing requirements, with periodic inspections recommended to support safe operation and long-term performance.

Apollo Multigym

Apollo Multigym is an eight-station correctional multigym for five users and 75+ exercises, pairing bodyweight stations (chin/dip bars with assist, plyo box, back extension, knee raise, calf-raise step) with a high/low pulley and a 100 lb selectorized stack adjustable 10-100 lb. The pop-pin rides in a security track; staff can lock or disable it. ADA-accessible.

Helios Multigym

Helios Multigym is a six-station correctional multigym for up to four users and 50+ bodyweight exercises, featuring chin-up and dip stations with Outdoor-Fit's chin/dip assist mechanism so all fitness levels can train, plus a plyo box, back extension, knee raise, and calf-raise step.

Versa Hi-LO Pulley System

Versa Hi-LO Pulley System is Outdoor-Fit's most compact strength station, delivering 25+ full-body exercises in under 50 sq ft. High and low selectorized pulleys share a 100 lb weight stack adjustable 10-100 lb; the pop-pin rides in a reinforced security track with nothing removable, and staff can lock or disable it. ADA-accessible and weather-resistant.
